We are is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Delivery Driver to support our daily operations.
This is a local driving position with consistent hours ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, working outdoors, and being part of a team that supports building projects across Vermont.
In this role, you’ll drive a variety of delivery vehicles, including flatbed trucks, box trucks, and small delivery vehicles, to ensure customers receive their materials accurately, safely, and on time.
What You’ll Do
As a Delivery Driver at Rice Lumber Company, you’ll play an important role in making sure contractors and homeowners receive the materials they need for their projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Safely operate flatbed trucks, box trucks, and small delivery vehicles
- Load, secure, transport, and unload lumber and building materials with care
- Deliver materials to local homes, contractors, and job sites
- Verify and complete delivery and pickup orders accurately
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain delivery paperwork and required documentation
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and job-site personnel
- Work closely with the yard and operations team to coordinate accurate and timely deliveries
- Assist with load building, yard tasks, and general operations when needed
Vehicles used may include:
- 16 ft Hino Box Truck
- 16 ft Flatbed Truck
- 12 ft F-550 Flatbed Truck
- Small delivery trucks for local routes
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Qualifications include:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Delivery, flatbed, or box truck driving experience preferred
- Knowledge of building materials or construction job sites is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work outdoors in all seasons
- Strong attention to detail and ability to verify orders accurately
- Strong commitment to safety and following traffic laws
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Willingness to assist with load building and support the team when needed
Schedule
Winter (November – April)
Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
Summer (April – November)
Monday–Friday schedule plus two Saturdays per month (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM) during the busy building season.
